    Hydroxychloroquine and the flu

They provide flu shots free of charge at my job, but I usually don't get one. I'd rather leave it for the people who really need it--there are a number of older people in my building.

I know this has been asked before, but I can't recall the answer. I'm currently taking plaquenil, enbrel, and mtx. The enbrel and mtx are a double whammy on the immune system, and I was wondering if there would be a benefit to getting the flu shot. Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is a medication most known for its original purpose of treating or preventing malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. The symptoms of 2009 H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea. People may be infected with the flu, including 2009 H1N1, and have respiratory symptoms without a fever.

Plaquenil - Nov 14, 2006 I have been taking Plaquenil 400 mg per day for about 2 years now due to lupus flare. When i first started it, I was also started on prednisone to get my inflammation under control. Actually I started on 200 mg per day and about 2 months before tapering off pred, he upped me to 400 mg per day of plaquenil to give it plenty of time to kick in.
