    I got this after about 5 weeks, mine was a blistery rash and it was only on my shoulders, upper chest and upper back. My doctor said it was photodermatitis and caused from a sensitivity to the sun caused by the plaquenil. A phototoxic reaction typically clears up once the drug is discontinued and has been cleared from the body, even after re-exposure to light.

    Plaquenil is the brand name for the prescription drug hydroxychloroquine. It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others.
